Nepal Poon Hill Trekking Tips

A paradise in the hearts of trekkers around the world.

Nepal is a mountainous country, and of the 10 peaks in the world that are 8,000 meters above sea level, eight can be seen in Nepal. With several of the world’s top trekking routes, it is a popular place for trekking.

The starting point of the Poon Hill mini-loop is Nayapul, which is usually about a 1-hour drive from Baglung bus station, and the whole journey takes 4 to 5 days from Nayapul, which is 1760 meters above sea level.

1. Reference route

Day 1: Nayapul -Birethanti -Hile-Tirkhedunga -Ulleri

Day 2: Ulleri -Nangethanti-Ghorepani

Day 3: Ghorepani -TheTopofPoonHill-Ghorepani -Deurali-Tadapani

Day 4: Tadapani -Ghandruk

Day 5: Ghandruk -Nayapul

2. Required Documents

Before starting the trek, trekkers need to purchase the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TrekkersInformationManagement System (TIMS). These are two fixed expenses.

The former is used by the Nepalese government to manage the information of trekkers entering the mountains, while the latter is similar to a ticket, both of which need to be carried with you and passed through several checkpoints along the trekking route, all of which require original documents, without which you will not be released.

Trekkers can either ask a travel agency in Kathmandu and Pokhara to do this on their behalf without a fee, or they can go to the relevant agencies, which have offices in both Kathmandu and Pokhara, and when doing so, they need to present their original passport, provide a copy of their passport and two photographs.

3. Recommended hiking equipment

2 sets of rushing clothes, quick-drying clothes, quick-drying pants, hiking shoes, rain gear, dry food, hiking poles, hats, toiletries, thermal cups, sunglasses, knee pads, sleeping bags.

4. Attentions

1)The hotels on the mountain are also catering, as most of the items on the mountain are brought up by human power, the higher the altitude the more expensive the food is, so be sure to ask the price before ordering, and also prepare some sweets and cookies, as you may not be used to eating local food during the trek.

2)Need to bring a thicker down jacket, non-slip hiking shoes, the mountain day and night temperature difference is relatively large, if it is winter, the mountain will sometimes snow, easy to fall.

3)Medicines to bring: cold medicine, gastrointestinal medicine, etc.
