Where Should You Go In Switzerland?

A country with fascinating landscapes and people.

1. Zermatt

Zermatt can be described as “pure and unspoiled”. there is no pollution, only horse-drawn carriages and electric cars in this Alpine town. And the reason for coming here is very simple: Matterhorn and skiing.

If you follow the main road to the end of Zermatt, you will come to the cable car station at the bottom of the mountain, which is the easiest way to reach the top of the mountain for skiing and seeing the Matterhorn.

Zermatt’s ski runs are difficult, so if you can’t manage them, don’t try them hard and leave the good times to Matterhorn.

Matterhorn is located in the Swiss canton of Valais, Zermatt, 4478 meters above sea level, is the most beautiful mountain in the Alps, is also the proud symbol of Switzerland, with its pillar of the sky, its special triangular cone shape, but also become the representative of the Alps, when the sun shines and the sun sets, the long years of snow reflecting the metallic light of the mountain.

When the sun rises or sets, the Matterhorn reflects the sun’s rays to become a golden peak, which looks chic and spectacular. Of course, all of this is best seen from the air, so try an airplane tour. From top to bottom, enjoy the Matterhorn in its purest form.

Transportation Tips

It is best to choose the train, because there is a panoramic train to Zermatt, and the scenery will be with you all the way. Especially in winter, the windows of the train are white and gradually take you into a fairy tale world of ice and snow.

2. Luzern

Luzern is a favorite vacation spot for the Swiss, especially in the summer, when crowds of people come to escape the heat.

The city of Luzern is small and sophisticated, life is leisurely and the attractions of the old town are basically within walking distance. Here, you are just a step away from Mount Rigi and the town of Weggis.

The town of Weggis hosts an annual Rose Festival in August and elects a Miss Rose. The evening of the festival features a fireworks display at Lake Luzern with a buzz that belongs only to Weggis.

Rigi is known as the Queen of the Mountains, and like its name, it is atmospheric and gentle, so when you come to Rigi in the summer, you must take part in a hike to experience the charm of Rigi in the most original way.

The Rigi hike takes place at the top of the mountain, where you can put on comfortable shoes and start hiking. It takes about one and a half hours to reach Mount Rigi by boat and alpine railroad from Luzern.

Transportation Tips
I have to say that in Europe, the train is the best way to get around because it is small. Take the train from other cities to Luzern, and Luzern to Mount Rigi is also by train.

3. Interlaken

Interlaken is a small town under Jungfrau and is famous as the gateway to Jungfrau. The town is located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and its natural beauty is endless.

Jungfrau is the most famous mountain in Switzerland, and the top of Europe can be reached by taking the scenic train to Jungfrau from the Interlaken train station. The red train weaves through the Alps, with snow-capped mountains, forests, and wildflowers on either side of it.

Jungfrau does not have a separate ticket for sale, the mountain transportation is all included.

Jungfrau official website:

The Jungfrau hiking train departs from Interlaken Ost. The climbing train has to go in three sections, i.e. two changes and three small train rides.

The first section of the train has two routes, at platforms 2A and 2B, in a circular route, with different routes for going up and down the mountain. The train runs every half hour in summer (4.28 to 10.26) and every hour in winter.

Line 1: Interlaken Ost-Lauterbrunnen.

Line 2: Interlaken Ost-Grindelwald.

Then you change to the second section of the train, the change will not take long and the schedules are well connected. The second section of the train arrives at Klein Scheidegg, which is located halfway up the hill and already has a close view of Jungfrau.

Finally, you can transfer to the most famous third section of the train – Jungfraubahn, the Iceberg Express, which is the most eye-catching red train running through the snowy mountains on various advertisements and posters.

Transportation Tips
Take the train to Interlaken and take the train from Interlaken to Jungfrau, changing trains in the middle of the journey will allow you to get used to the altitude. The most recommended route is to go up from one of the routes and then go down from the other route to enjoy the beautiful scenery without repeating.
